An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Design Manager to join our Change Delivery team based at our Leeds office. What you'll be doing You will ensure safe delivery of projects and programmes in the portfolio. Analysis and design are the essential building blocks fundamental to setting projects and programmes up for success. The role holder will therefore have the relevant expertise, experience and capability to provide leadership within the Design Team in Change Delivery and to collaborate, influence and challenge as appropriate beyond Change Delivery (e.g. with ITSD and Enterprise & Business Architecture). The role involves all aspects of leading and managing a team of up to ten Solution Analysts & Designers. The size of the team may increase in line with the requirements of the Society’s Change Portfolio, and will as necessary include contract and third party resources. The role holder will manage, schedule and report on progress of multiple projects and multiple programmes at any one time. He/she will be required to lead around the resolution of blockers, ensuring the team have everything they need to deliver their project responsibilities. The role holder is responsible for maintaining the professional standards, skills profile and capability of the community as well as being responsible for the quality and deliverables produced and the adherence to design standards The role holder will keep abreast of industry standard tools and techniques, will challenge ways of working and will be responsible for introducing and embedding new processes, policies and standards A key focus is to provide strong community leadership, with a commitment to maximising the potential of all colleagues, ensuring they each have personal development plans and benefit from mentoring, coaching and appropriate training. The Knowledge & Skills you’ll have: Extensive experience of technical design and previously leading roles in the successful design and implementation of Business solutions for a range of projects. Experience of working on large and complex change programmes Very good knowledge of the delivery lifecycle with various methodologies e.g. waterfall, agile. Experience of delivering IT change in complex environments involving teams from different disciplines and different suppliers. An expert level understanding of End to End Design techniques using different tools and lifecycle methodologies. Proven leadership credentials coupled with acknowledged architectural and design expertise. Experience of Leading and developing people, teams and capability. Experience of building and managing relationships across business and technology functions to deliver large projects and programmes. Experience in managing a quality review process and Architectural Compliance Assessments for design artefacts which ensures that they conform with agreed standards and policies. A high level of awareness of wider industry developments and show desire to constantly look at and learn from external ‘best practice’. Knowledge and experience of planning developments in accordance with defined Strategy and agreed enterprise architecture. A broad appreciation of the Group’s commercial objectives, operational processes and supporting systems. Able to formulate solutions based on good practice and previous experience An ability to adopt a structured approach with strong analytical skills.
