This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Operations Development Manager to work with the worlds leading animal health care organisation.

During 2018 there will be a number of development projects to undertake in UK Commercial Operations, including local launch of global systems implementations and local development projects associated with systems, processes and Excel-based tools.

The Operations Development Manager (ODM) is responsible for understanding the Commercial Operations function in its entirety and the role that this function plays in supporting the wider UK business.

Using this understanding, the ODM will undertake project management activities to co-ordinate and drive the efforts of various colleagues in Commercial Operations and the wider business to ensure projects launch successfully, on-time and within budget.

In addition to project management activities, the ODM will need to play an active role in the understanding and resolution of issues, together with defining associated activities and performing some of these activities themselves.


Planning and Co-ordination

* Lead the various project activities with co-ordination of tasks and drive successful execution, with accountability and ownership for all project work
* Understand the purpose Commercial Operations, the purpose and context of each project, and ensure that all work is executed in an integrated fashion with particular attention to internal and external dependencies
* Identify and manage risks and issues with appropriate mitigation strategies
* Provide a single point of contact to the Director of Commercial Operations and wider stakeholders regarding development projects and ensure all work is taking place in a joined-up fashion with all relevant parties understanding the wider context of issues

Hands-on development of processes and issue resolution

* Where required, and with the guidance of the Director of Commercial Operations, take ownership of understanding, mapping and communicating end-to-end processes involving multiple systems and stakeholders
* Where required, take an active role in defining solutions to issues encountered or to meet business requirements
* Where required, produce documentation and communication materials to ensure all stakeholders understand complex issues and new processes


* Understand the role of all relevant stakeholders in project work and related business as usual activities
* Build stakeholder relationships, build awareness and buy-in
* Engage with relevant stakeholders cross-functionally

Key skills and experience:


* Project Management experience
* Able to map processes and understand the wider business context that processes support or enable
* Attention to detail and problem solving skills
* Takes initiative and accountability
* Can translate complex information into easy to understand concepts
* Exceptional communication skills; written and verbal
* Works effectively under time pressures, demonstrating strong time management, prioritisation and organisational abilities
* Adept with MS Office software. Expertise in Excel an advantage

Training & Qualifications:

* Formal project management accreditation preferred
* Current passport and valid driving licence
* Advanced use of MS Excel including pivot tables, VBA coding and array formulae. Experience of MS Access and integrated data solutions preferred
* IT literate. Able to use standard business software, communication tools and data management systems


* Exposure at a senior level in previous roles - with boards of directors or leadership teams
* Significant experience in complex project management
* Significant experience in process mapping and business solution engineering
* Experience in a medium to large company; £10m+ turnover
* Technical experience with database systems preferred
* Experienced user of Microsoft Excel to analyse and present data
* Experience working in highly regulated corporate environment
* Experience in animal health, human health, pharmaceuticals or life sciences is desirable
