Business Support Assistant 16 hours per week, worked over 5 days, including occasional weekends during the Museum’s open season Permanent position £16,000 pa pro rata The Museum & Heritage Centre has been in existence for 40 years on a 36 acre site with over 40 exhibit buildings, providing hundreds of thousands of visitors with informative and inspiring experiences. The collections represent the industries of the south-east of England from 1750 to the present day. We recognise the need for continuous development and are now in an exciting period of change and have set goals to grow our visitor numbers. Visitor attractions include a narrow-gauge railway, a nostalgic bus service, printing workshop, with the opportunity to ‘have a go’ at a traditional craft, such as broom-making or blacksmithing, guided by highly-skilled volunteer craftspeople. We are looking for an outstanding Business Support Assistant to provide accounts and administrative support in the Museum’s office. You will undertake basic accounting duties, processing all receipts, sales and supplier invoices, donations, completing the weekly banking and providing support for Quickbooks accounting. With experience of bookkeeping or financial work, preferably using Quickbooks, you are likely to have experience of working in a busy office, working with or supervising volunteers. You will be able to work independently, show initiative and be well organised with a high level of accuracy. You will be able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people and be flexible in your approach to work, with strong IT skills. A relevant qualification in business or finance is desirable. Due to the nature of the Museum’s work, you will be expected to be flexible with working your hours over a 7 day period during the Museum’s ‘open season’, as demanded by operational requirements.
