Major Planning Applications Team Leader

Purpose of the role As a Team Leader, you will assist the Service Manager in leading, managing, delivering and developing the Development Management & Control Service in a manner consistent with the Council’s aims and policies and the professional standards falling within the scope of the Planning and Transportation Service. The post holder will be specifically responsible for management of the Strategic Applications Team (including responsibility for applications relating to heritage assets). This includes responsibility throughout of all the planning applications, the day to day management of the professional planning staff and the administering of the system of pre-application charging. Key to your success in this role will be professional leadership and day to day management of a team of professional staff. You will need substantial experience in all aspects of Development Planning, including; dealing with a wide range of planning applications and/or extensive planning enforcement experience and experience of being a lead witness at public inquiries and hearings. Furthermore, you will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the principle practices of town and country planning and the application of that knowledge to the development management process.
