Health, Safety, Environment, & Quality Advisor Coventry Permanent

Location: Coventry

Type: Permanent position

Salary: Circa £40,000 - £45,000

Hours of work: 9am - 5pm Monday - Thursday (finish 4:30 on a Friday)

Holidays: 26 days + bank holidays

Our client, a large well established company supplying the engineering and construction sector, are based in Warwickshire.

They are looking to recruit a new Health, Safety, Environment, & Quality Advisor.

They are looking for someone with at least 5 - 7 years Health and Safety experience working within a construction or manufacturing environment.

This will be working within a small team reporting to a HSEQ Manager

The successful candidate will need to have

  • Tech IOSH (essential)
  • NEBOSH Construction certificate (essential)
  • Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management (essential)
  • Knowledge of Integrated Management Systems (essential)
  • CSCS card holder (essential)
  • IT literate, Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint (essential)
  • Auditor qualification in OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 (essential)

Desirable (but not essential)

  • NVQ 4 or Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (working towards Chartered IOSH status)
  • Affiliate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment Certificate in Environmental Management (working towards IEMA Practitioner status)
  • ISO14001 or ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Railway HSEQ experience
  • Experience within Plant management, Mechanical or Manufacturing industries.
  • Affiliate status with Chartered Quality Institute, or similar professional body.

This will be to provide detailed advice and support in the "maintenance and improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality compliance on company premises and operational sites across the UK" to divisions and department throughout the business.

This will involve

  • Undertake site inspections and internal audits across the UK
  • Produce reports with recommendations for improvement
  • Delivery of identified improvement actions.
  • Carry out external supply chain audits
  • Produce reports with recommendations for improvement
  • To comply with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory, contractual and company requirements.
  • To assist in the preparation and review of registers of legislation and standards, health and safety risk assessments, environmental aspects and work instructions.
  • Assist in the identification of competency gaps across the organisation
  • Provide tender and project management support
  • Provide support and advice to personnel relating to the prevention of accidents, damage to plant and equipment, fire, the environment and quality control.
  • To ensure that all reported Incidents and non-conformities are recorded, investigated and analysed.
  • Provide information for inclusion reports.
  • Identify activities requiring specialist risk assessment e.g. DSE, Fire, Noise, Dust, Vibration, etc, advising on control measures for risk reduction and ensuring safe systems of work are documented and implemented.
  • Encourage staff to report hazards and raise health, safety, environment and quality concerns.
  • Provide support to the HO and business units in second and third party certification assessments and audits.
  • To attend and contribute to UK Divisional meetings.
  • Participate in business Improvement projects.
  • Assist in the development of the Integrated Management Systems in accordance with International standards such as PAS91, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO
  • 14001 where appropriate.
  • To liaise with customers, safety representatives and sub-contractors
  • Assist in the identification of the cost of poor quality, safety, health and environmental management.

They are looking for someone with excellent communication, numeracy and literacy skills. Someone who is influential - with the ability to drive change through motivation and negotiation skills.

This position will involve some UK travel

Candidates will need to have a full driving licence
