Teacher of Geography- Wigan- April 2018

Teaching Personnel have been approached by one of our partner schools within the Wigan LEA to recruit for a Teacher of Geography on their behalf. This is scheduled to start from April 2018 and is for two terms initially.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Geography teacher to work in a high achieving school with pupils who are engaged and have positive attitudes to learning. During the last Ofsted inspection, reference was made to the relationships teachers have with students, as a result lessons flow and are on the whole calm and allow progress and outcomes to be achieved.

This post will be to teach both Key Stage 3 & 4 Geography. However, you must also show a willingness to teach the other subjects within the Humanities faculty- History and Religious Education. Further, the successful candidate would be expected to expand Geography into a wider school ethos in terms of Eco Schools and Fair Trade.

The incoming Geography teacher will join a very experienced Humanities faculty who are dedicated to ensuring the subjects are enjoyed by all the pupils. Fieldwork and extra-curricular trips support a comprehensive Geography curriculum. In its Ofsted inspection at the start of last year, the school achieved 'GOOD’ across all areas of the report making it an ideal environment for a teacher to progress in their career. The Head teacher was praised for continually raising the standards year after year and the support given to all staff. The pupils are respectful of each other and enjoy coming to the school. This is reflected in their engagement within the lessons and the positive ambience throughout the school.

Situated close to Orrell, the school is on the outskirts of Wigan town centre making it easily accessible via car or public transport from the surrounding areas; Skelmersdale, Chorley, Standish & Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The Senior Leadership team are looking to meet interested candidates as soon as possible. IF you are a Geography teacher looking to apply, please do so now to avoid missing the deadline for interview.

For immediate consideration please send an updated CV to Paul via the link below or contact the Manchester West Secondary Branch of Teaching Personnel for further information.
