We're looking for someone who seeks to work in a supervisory position overseeing a team of 8, providing maintenance supervision on metal moulds used during the fast paced production process. This is a fast paced 24/7 production manufacturing environment, the role is looking for someone who comes from an engineering background, with exposure being both hands on providing maintenance on moulds used within FMCG packaging manufacturing and with some leadership experience.

The Role

You'll report into the Mould & Maintenance Manager, and will oversee a team of 8. You'll be probably 70% management focussed in the role and 30% hands on. Should you have exposure on a hands on basis, please don't hesitate to apply, as you may be able to be trained to step up into this role. Your team will maintain in excess of 350 metal moulds used in the production of glass packaging. You'll be used to working within a fast paced environment with quick turnaround times. This is a key part of the process, as it affects the quality of the final product, the majority of non-conformances are caused by this role not being completed properly.

In terms of hands on, this role will require someone with a background in metal fabrication and maintenance, this may take the form mainly of stray welding, grinding, cleaning, lubricating etc. Exposure hands on in these areas or supervising a team of engineers using spray welding would be an advantage.

The role requires someone ideally with a supervisory background, and leadership skills. You're supervisory duties will be focussed on managing development &training, appraisals, training of apprentices, managing holiday and the rota, manage health and safety within your team, be responsible for the admin and ordering of tooling, gauges, form plates etc for your department and ensuring maintenance is completed on time and to the required quality standard.

The role does have real scope for development, both in your personal knowledge but also in the position. Ideally you'll be someone to bring in some fresh ideas, and help support other areas of the business as well.

The Candidate

You'll be someone with a solid background in working hands on in mould, or industrial metal repairs through the form of spray welding or similar technology. This could be within in industrial factory, FMCG environment, automotive or equivalent environment. You'll seek to work for a well-funded business well respected in their industry and with longstanding client relationships. You'll right away get training and development by the outgoing retiring supervisor, culminating in 1 or 2 months handover, which will get you up to speed with the plant/ workshop and processes. You won't mind working in a sometimes warm and stuffy environment, associated with producing glass packaging, although the majority of this role is workshop based away from the hot end of the facility.


Engineering background & qualification
Spray welding/ metal repair experience
Supervisory experience within a workshop/manufacturing environment.


£34 - 37k
Mon - Friday - 39hours days (Mon - Thurs 7.30 - 4.30 and Friday 7.30 - 3.30)
