What this job is really like:

This role is responsible for delivering commercial financial advice and actionable financial insights for the RSA Delegated division. You will add value through your ability to monitor and manage business and financial performance, evaluating business opportunities, risks and issues that will enable senior decision makers to respond to commercial opportunities.

RSA Delegated is a key part of the Commercial Risk Solutions portfolio. In this division, we delegate our underwriting authority to partner organisations, allowing us to access attractive markets and new capability quickly and efficiently. It is an important area of growth for CRS. As a result, it provides a great opportunity for the Finance Business Partner to get involved in driving performance across a diverse portfolio, contribute to winning new deals, meet and face off to external partners and act as the key finance lead for the RSA Delegated management team.


* Ownership with Business for delivery of Financial targets
* Challenge business performance through use of FPP produced analysis and presentation of financial information to senior decision makers
* Play an influential role on steering groups supporting business delivery and strategic alignment
* Proactively highlight risks and opportunities to financial performance and develop actions to mitigate, correct or exploit as appropriate with senior decision makers
* Review and challenge performance metrics (e.g. KPIs) aligned to business strategy
* Accountable for supplying the business with relevant commercial and financial insight to drive value
* Discuss forward looking and actionable financial insights that sustain market share and support growth
* Proactively identify opportunities (from either existing or new analysis) for improved performance and develop potential solutions with senior decision makers to drive financial performance, commissioning FPP for production as appropriate
* Leverage the FPP to produce high quality analysis and insight to drive performance, ensuring reports are fit for purpose and relevant
* Support for Business Strategy, Planning and Forecasting
* Model planning scenarios to support building the strategic plan for your business area
* Provide commercially focused review of strategic plan that helps business leaders set appropriate performance targets, backed up by action plans
* Ensure alignment of top down targets to operational plans
* Accountable for challenging the business to deliver business case benefits, escalating to FBP where business case is not delivering
* Actively influence idea generation with respect to business cases, leveraging specialist team for production
* Work with business to ensure benefits are delivered and maximised, utilising specialist team for benefits tracking
* Work with business to understand lessons learnt and take corrective actions as necessary
* Monitor and challenge business on control effectiveness
* Ensure that financials are created or validated by appropriate areas of finance

The Individual

You will ideally have insurance knowledge, this will be a distinct advantage due to the nature of the role/stakeholders you will be working with.

* A Qualified Accounting professional or may have equivalent experience
* Proven track record of successful stakeholder management with evidence of having worked in a fast-moving, results driven environment
* Proven ability to work with the business to understand and interpret the practical business implications of financial data
* Proven ability to anticipate business performance issues/opportunities and recommend appropriate action
* Proven ability to work at pace and evaluate risk
