You will provide full Financial reporting and controller-ship, financial strategy and management reporting and will play a key role as in the leadership of the support services for the charity.

Client Details

My client is a growing charity providing vital services to vulnerable members of society. Working closely with four local authorities based in central and west London. Their services are free and confidential.

The organisation has undergone significant growth in both its services and consequently its income and staff and as a result the business support services team is being expanded to support this growth and ensure we reach more people in need

Description

As a member of the senior management team, the Head of Finance & Services will provide strategic financial and business services direction and oversight across the organisation, working closely with the Chief Executive and the Directors of Programmes. You will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer, Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.

You will be responsible for efficient polices, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be pro-active in developing new systems and services to meet the needs of the organisation as it grows. You will be responsible for overseeing the Human Resources and Payroll functions, as well as manage outsourced providers, including IT and Payroll. You will also manage external adviser's and relationships with banks, auditors, legal, tax and other business services providers, ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

You will oversee the Business Services team and provide excellent business service and support to over 60 staff across multiple sites. You will have experience of financial management, efficient administrative systems and a proven ability to both motivate and be a part of effective teams. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, be proactive and solution-focused, and knowledgeable about or be able to access information about HR, IT and other business services matters

Profile

A university degree or equivalent

A relevant UK professional finance qualification (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) and a good understanding of the environment in which charities operate.

Good understanding of the principles underpinning financial planning and of demonstrating impact and value for money.

Proven track record of effective leadership and management, of maintaining a strong and motivated team and contributing to strategic planning processes.

Significant experience of preparation of management and annual accounts, budgets, business analysis and management information (preferably within the charity sector).

Successful track record of building and maintaining business networks and partnerships, internal and external, at senior level.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong presentation and influencing abilities.

Results focused, solution-oriented with a proactive and positive approach, and excellent ability to prioritise and organise work and to plan and organise work of others.

Ability to think and act strategically to develop practical and creative solutions to the management of services and complex issues which may arise.

Strong networking skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Project planning and management skills, with the ability to work under pressure whilst applying procedures and maintaining professional boundaries.

Strong skills in IT and proficiency in Windows software and financial systems.

Demonstrate appreciation of the importance of confidentiality and anti-discriminatory practice and equality and diversity; safe practice and health and safety procedures.
