MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
Leading the monthly management accounts process, analysing the results and really understand the drivers of PayPoint’s costs and revenue. To business partner with the IT Director and Head of Operations, providing a valuable first point of contact and ensure these areas are supported and challenged to help meet the business objectives. Support the business in appropriate ways including forecasting cost lines, working with external stakeholders to ensure we stay compliant (auditors, HMRC) and identifying improvements in the ways of working within finance to improve efficiency and to support the wider business.
To be accountable for the monthly management accounts for UK.
Analyse and interpret the monthly management accounts, ensuring a full understanding of the plan/forecast to provide an analysis of the underlying trends in the business, providing clear opportunities and risks analysis to influence the wider business.
Pro-actively manage monthly cost review meetings and ad hoc projects with senior operational stakeholders. The objective of the meeting is to provide appropriate reporting and analysis, to understand the spend movements, challenge spend and identify added-value opportunities.
Financial planning and analysis in certain costs areas, supporting, challenging and providing models to aid senior managers maintain cost control.
Challenge the current ways of working ensuring processes are streamlined where possible, systems are used to the best of their capability and identify improvements to support the wider business.
Produce and maintain appropriate financial controls including monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations for the UK entities. Where the Management Accountant produces balance sheet reconciliations, ensure these are reviewed and any appropriate action is taken.
Produce annual statutory accounts for the UK entities.
Assist with the annual and interim audit, providing a key point of contact with our auditors and resolving queries with the support of the wider finance team.
Draft the annual Corporation Tax computations for review by the Tax Manager.
Manage the Management Accountant, providing coaching and development to ensure they can progress to more senior positions in finance and provide business support and ensure support is given to their team members.
Other ad hoc projects as and when required assisting finance and other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Qualified Accountant with a recognised qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel especially in the use of spreadsheets.
Experience of presenting data in a clear and precise manner to both financial and non-financial employees;
Knowledge of Sage 300 ERP or another computerised accounting systems
A well organised individual with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Analytical approach with an ability to recognise, investigate and resolve issues and in turn explain and influence the wider business.
A team player, both within finance and across the business and the ability to work independently and manage and deliver projects.
Willing to roll sleeves up in order to get things done
