Category Manager - Procurement
My client, based in Bedfordshire, is a leading player in their field.

Understands business strategy and how it impacts P&SC. Ensures category management activities underpin the business strategy.
Represents Procurement on Executive Boards or forums as directed by Head of Procurement and Supply Chain; and delivers key reports and presentations as required.
Ensures that the role & activities of the Category Management team are clearly understood by P&SC team, Internal & External Stakeholders at all times.
Meets with key customers to ensure that the business strategy and functional business needs are being met effectively by the category management activity.
Actively supports the procurement transformation throughout the business by influencing senior management; expanding the footprint of procurement into new areas; and working with stakeholders and responding to any issues or suggestions relating to their Category in a timely manner.
Champions the implementation of category management within own team and wider business community resulting in cost and value improvement.
Leads and coaches others in the areas of category management, supplier relationship management and procurement policy.
Act as Category subject matter expert both internally and externally.
Develop and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities
Supports Head of Procurement and Supply Chain in the development and delivery of the vision, strategy and objectives for the Procurement & Supply Chain function and communicates them to direct reports.
Recruits, develops, leads, coaches and mentors direct reports.
Takes ownership of specific tasks/projects as directed by the Head of Procurement & Supply Chain.
Effectively communicates the P&SC strategic direction and cascades into objectives and action plans for direct reports.
Leads team building and collaboration and demonstrates the required leadership attributes.
Manages direct reports from a leadership, coaching and mentoring perspective.
