Senior Business Development Manager - Leading Law Firm
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a leading law firm as a Senior Business Development Manager working within a sales focused role. The role holder will work with key stakeholders to develop business plans, drive effective business development activities that create and help to drive growth and develop and run sales pipelines.
The Senior Business Development Manager will need to be proactive at developing trusted advisor relationships with Partners and teams across the firm and must develop a sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of the firm's clients, service offerings and the competitive landscape. You will be responsible for driving sales activity and pipeline development, ensuring activity is tracked via the firm's client relationship management software. You will develop and promote new client, sector and service value proposition offerings that aim to both increase the number of companies with which the firm has contact, focusing and build the firm's relationship with buyers of legal services both new and existing. The Senior BD Manager will be expected to win new work streams and attend relevant client and prospect meetings, ensuring effective follow-up takes place and assisting with the collation of collateral and follow-up activity. Helping to improve the win rate and the quality of competitive bids will be a key part of the role and you will need to provide effective advice and coaching throughout the bidding process including effective go or no go decisions, planning, project management, document creation and production, pricing, pitch preparation and rehearsal. On the marketing side, the successful applicant will work with the Marketing & Communication function to ensure that the firm's insight, thought leadership and events are properly targeted, driven and deliver return on investment and to contribute to raising the profile of the practice and sector areas through PR, social media, directory submissions and other customised activities.
You must have a demonstrable track record of BD success working in a demanding and high performance environment, preferably in a professional services environment, to include a proven track record in face to face sales and client relationship management, and a thorough understanding of pipeline, targeting and opportunity management with the ability to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives. The Senior Business Development Manager will be a tenacious self-starter who has the ability to both take ownership of a project and drive it to completion whilst working as a team player and to develop networks and trusted adviser relationships with Partners and staff at all levels, influencing effectively and constructively challenging to deliver the best results. It is essential that candidates are comfortable making calls to prospects, such as general counsels, at medium to large companies and attending and leading sales meetings with partners and others.
