The role

We see SEO as a major growth opportunity for our business. As the brand’s in-house SEO Specialist, you will be responsible for the effective, efficient, professional and proactive management of our company SEO acquisition strategy, working towards meeting the business objectives of iSmash to ensure long term financial sustainability. You will be working alongside a team of digital specialists, external agencies and key internal stakeholders. This is both a focused and wide role, ensuring all SEO opportunities are capitalised upon and performing optimally, in-line with best practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Creation and management of website pages to support company product range increases
  • Creation, implementation and management of a content strategy, mapping relevant opportunities to the customer intent and journey
  • Maintaining and improving the technical website structure and mark-up, ensuring no issues, with periodic auditing to ensure optimal SEO and user performance - in line with best practice
  • Understand the website user journey and key conversion points - generate, implement and test new ideas that will increase conversion and revenue for the company website
  • Liaise and collaborate with external back end developers for further website development and improvements for SEO, UX and CRO
  • Devise and implement effective outreach strategies to drive offsite SEO performance
  • Analyse SEO performance - including conversions, traffic, rankings, technical, as well as user behaviour metrics and competitor / vertical performance, monitoring KPIs and producing weekly reports as required, plus facilitating measurement framework
  • Mentoring the company on SEO best practice, insights, trends and recommendations
  • Your role will include a large degree of digital and business coordination, ensuring all the internal requirements are met, plus liaising and supporting the wider digital team

Other responsibilities

  • Be at the forefront of digital trends; identify and implement tests and best practices and continue to be an early adopter of new strategies and technologies
  • Work closely with our Paid Specialist to ensure a joined-up approach to customer acquisition, gleaming insights from keyword and ad performance to incorporate into our natural search strategy
  • Liaise and work closely with our external digital and dev agency to ensure joined up strategy, implementation and results, plus iterative learning and testing
  • Forecast website SEO performance and maintain accurate accounting of activity vs. performance
  • Analyse performance against forecast and makes course adjustments as needed to reach sales goals
  • Attend and present to stakeholder meetings
  • Conduct regular competitive research/analysis

Key Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Educated to degree level
  • Proven SEO experience and track record of driving strategies and results - 2 years+
  • Excellent attention to detail in both data analysis and content creation
  • Proficient in technical SEO best practice - including website code, mark up (schema/rich snippets), speed and indexing
  • Experience in devising and implementing intent driven, user centric content strategies
  • A strong understanding of offsite SEO best practice, and outreach strategies to 'earn’ links
  • A proficient understanding of UX and UI, with experience in multi-variant and a/b web page creation, implementation, testing, and measurement
  • Competent experience in reporting suites - Google Analytics, Search Console, Adwords, Keyword Monitoring tools and heat-mapping / user analysis software, plus technical set up
  • Understanding of administering and managing websites and product ranges - online merchandising, via a CMS
  • You must have the ability to work to strict commercial deadlines, plus be a self-starter, strong team member and communicator
  • Knowledge of Shopify platform, using email marketing software, plus some html and css would be an advantage
  • A passion for digital marketing is a must
