NOC Engineer - TechOps, Cisco, Juniper - Reading, Berkshire - Up to £41,000 plus shift allowance and excellent benefits

Shifts - 14x 11hr shifts every 28 days which includes days and nights

I am currently recruiting for an NOC Engineer to join a very successful business based in Reading.

The NOC engineers are responsible to provide a best in class service for the response and resolution for incidents across the companies shared platform covering network, cloud and UC.

Within a team of engineers across all technologies you will bring the network focus to the team, providing a proactive response to alerts generated by OSS platforms, as well as responding to tickets passed through the ITSM ticketing system.

You will assist in providing technical and service leadership to maximize the performance of the Technical Operations team, assisting in improvement initiatives including system, process and technology changes and most importantly setting the right example in your professional behaviour and positive attitude.


  • Support of the Company's Technical Operation Centre, incorporating fault diagnostics and resolution across Network, Cloud and UC
  • Monitoring of all platform systems through the OSS platforms, raising tickets as appropriate and progressing to resolution
  • Implementation of change requests on the network Platform, adhering to the companies Change Management process
  • Use of company ticketing system, and other support systems to maintain accurate records to ITIL standards
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation and work instructions for known workarounds and standard change requests
  • Perform as part of a shift cycle incorporating 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Working with T3 and vendor support to resolve hardware and software issues on Network Platform
  • Working closely with T2 peers, OSS, Field Engineering, Data Center and Provisioning teams to ensure the best possible service is provided to customers
  • Technical escalation to T3 support teams as required in line with company policies
  • You must ensure you are aware of your security responsibilities & know how to access Security Policies hosted on the Intranet
  • Carry out any 'ad hoc' assignments as and when required with the departments


  • CCNA with extensive hands on implementation and troubleshooting of complex Cisco networking solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting Cisco EN level Routers
  • Cisco and Juniper Firewall experience
  • Security clearance to SC level or the ability to be SC cleared is mandatory
  • Extensive data communications understanding and experience in operational environment
  • Experienced in applying basic and detailed change requests to live Customer solutions
  • Previous experience working with Cisco hardware and software troubleshooting with switching, routing, firewall platforms
  • Ability to implement and troubleshooting IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, G703 & X21, DSL, IPSec, PPP/L2TP, STP and WAN technologies including Ethernet, xDSL, Leased Lines and LES
  • Experience in operating Network Management Systems and SNMP based monitoring systems
  • Previous experience working in a networking role with hands on experience
  • Experience with ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, and Change management
  • Good understanding of layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing


  • CCNA Security qualification or equivalent
  • CCNP Routing and Switching qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working in a NOC / Service Provider / ISP / Telco-Carrier operational
  • Experience in managing new customer provisions, including stress testing, fail over and declaring live.
  • Experience with Juniper firewall and F5 & Cisco ACE Load Balancer
  • Experience with cloud hosting technologies including VMWare, EMC Sorage, and Cisco
  • Experience with hosted Voice Over IP technologies including Cisco, Broadworks and
  • Experience with DDoS mitigation
  • Experience with Cisco SCE
  • Experience with SRX/Junos
  • Experience Managing DDoS protection platforms
  • Experience Managing F5/Cisco ACE Loadbalancing
