Project Manager
Overview of the role

The Project Manager is an individual with experience running complicated projects across a wide range of technology streams in an organisation providing consultancy and technology services as a key supplier. They are responsible for the end-to-end project management and professional implementation of IT business solutions and will have a proven record of success. They may also take responsibility for delivery of a programme of work for a client, reporting and managing a programme view.

Throughout project planning and project implementation it will be the responsibility of the Project Manager to provide information on progress to the customer, project stakeholders, Account Manager and operations staff as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify internal and external resources, whether financial or human, in order to deliver the project successfully

  • Accept and close projects in distress or which contain significant management on client sites.

  • Support the Portfolio Manager in coaching and mentoring other Project Managers in the tools and techniques suitable for projects in flight

  • Evaluate the progress of project on regular basis and take proactive steps to resolve any risks or issues

  • Set realistic and practical goals for the project. Moreover, they should also develop appropriate strategies for achieving these goals.

  • Manage the commercial aspects of the project both in terms of the client and internal Finance procedures, remaining cognizant at all time of the commercial status of the project.


  • Accepts work as a Project Management team member

  • Suggests and supports the internal change programme

  • Accepts initiatives and acts to support the implementation of the Services "P&L"

  • Works to authority boundaries as a team member, escalation to the Portfolio Manager as needed

  • Maintain and Manage a list of "at risk" projects under own control


  • Works using provided IT tools and to the acceptable use policy

  • Develop tools and techniques for distributing tasks according to the skills of every team member and also to evaluate the performance of all team members

  • Suggests process changes as options to support the Project Management function of the team

  • Industry recognised Project Management qualification, or appropriate experience

  • High level of commercial awareness

  • Ability to use standard project management tools and techniques

  • Ability to direct others appropriately i.e. appropriate use of: Assertion, Control and Confidence

  • Identify, control and manage unexpected challenges and issues and instil confidence within the projects team

  • Demonstrated ability to manage several complex tasks concurrently and meet deadlines

  • Persistence and resilience in seeing a project through to completion

  • Practical and hands on approach to delivering outcomes

  • Ability to form and maintain solid working relationships

  • Self-motivation and self-sufficiency, with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload and conflicting priorities

  • Ability to learn new information quickly and keep up with rapidly changing products and processes

  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally, with the confidence and gravitas to build working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Willingness to travel, with occasional overnight stays
