Clinical Team Leader - Fairfax Ward
Here at Wyke, the calm environment of our intensive care ward welcomes men with acute mental health needs and our dedicated, multidisciplinary team work with the individual to create a seamless route from referral to discharge. For older males, we have a specialist ward for treating service users with complex mental and physical needs. There is no upper or lower age limit, but this care setting provides support for challenging behaviour alongside other conditions such as Huntington’s, physical frailty, terminal illness, diabetes and cardiac problems.
Fairfax Ward is an older adults mental health service supporting up to 22 men presenting with a range of complex diagnoses and high risk needs. The service accepts both crisis and planned admissions.
Care and treatment are offered in a safe and therapeutic environment by a well-established multi-disciplinary team. We aim to maximise patients’ quality of life by supporting them in the least restrictive environment possible. High staffing ratios ensure that service users can be supported in maintaining their independence and autonomy.
Referrals can be accepted from medium and low secure settings for men moving through a forensic care pathway, supporting the ethos of care in the least restrictive setting. All Ministry of Justice restrictions can be accommodated as well as patients who are supported under the Mental Capacity Act/DoLS.
Although our client group is predominantly men over the age of 50, we may be able to support men outside of this age group on Fairfax Ward, dependent on their diagnosis and presentation.
