Cygnet Hospital Beckton is a gender specific hospital for women with complex mental health needs. It includes a female low secure service (15 beds); a female PICU (15 beds); a female learning disabilities (low secure) (13 beds); and a Tier 4 personality disorder service (1 x 12 bed and 1 x 6 bed) specialising in DBT although providing other specialist treatment options as appropriate. The candidate will be able to join the established programmes across all the services.
This is an opportunity for a psychology graduate with previous experience of working in a mental health setting to develop their skills in clinical areas. The post-holder will support the qualified psychologists in various aspects of the inpatient work across the wards. This will involve patient assessment and intervention, multi-disciplinary liaison and involvement in other organisational activities. There will also be opportunities to be involved in co-facilitating training of other professionals under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist. There is a strong focus on measurable outcomes and evidence based practice, therefore the successful candidate will also participate in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics and teaching other professional groups as appropriate.
The successful candidate will join the established Psychology department comprised of a range of forensic and clinical psychologists as well as assistant psychologists and psychology students. Experience or an interest in working with females with learning disabilities and a knowledge of research principles will be an advantage.
