Temporary Early Years Practitioner , fixed term 28 June 2019 (2 posts)
Portobello High School

Salary: £20,159 - £24,029 (Pro-rata for part time) (sessional 39 weeks)

Post 1: 27.50 hours

Post 2: 17.67 hours

Portobello High School is currently the largest local authority run school in Edinburgh with a roll of more than 1300, drawn mainly from five associate primary schools. In October 2016, the school moved into a superb new building on Milton Road close to rail, bus and road links. This post represents a great opportunity for the right person to join a large staff team and work in a truly comprehensive setting. Significant investment has been made in digital technology to support effective learning and most learners have their own iPad. This is enhanced by 80'' teaching screens connected to Apple TV in all classrooms. A number of innovative approaches have been adopted to help our young people develop the skills and attributes required to make successful post school transitions. The school has well-established links with its community and the proximity of Edinburgh College, four Universities and all that the Scotland's capital city has to offer gives scope for the development of further partnerships.

We are looking for an Early Years Practitioner to join our staff team. This post is to provide one to one support for a pupil with considerable complex needs. The responsibilities of this post will involve significant provision of personal care and one-to-one support. This post would suit someone who has previous experience working with children with complex special needs and who understands and values the importance of the children's health and wellbeing. Flexibility, enthusiasm and a commitment to inclusion are some of the key skills required to fulfil the post.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a staff that is committed to ensuring that our pupils receive the highest quality of education and experiences within a nurturing school environment. For an informal discussion about the post please contact Luke McAllister, Support for Learning Leader.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Closing Date: 16 February 2018
