The Purchasing Manager will play a key role within the Purchasing and Procurement team, taking responsibility for identifying and developing strategy, managing a portfolio of products ensuring best cost and value is delivered and seeking continuous improvement in quality, cost and service.

Based in Kent, our client are one of the UK's largest suppliers of fresh produce.

Description

The Purchasing Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of products ensuring transparency of spending
  • Develop and implement category strategy to deliver best cost and value
  • Continuously seek cost savings opportunities
  • Negotiate profitable contracts and deals
  • Build, monitor and review supplier relationships
  • Forecast market trends, prices, availability and identify any risk areas
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, looking at competitor bench-marking

Profile

The Purchasing Manager will be able to demonstrate:

  • FMCG / Manufacturing procurement experience
  • Understanding of procurement decisions and the financial impact
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Analytical and numerical skills
  • Language skills desirable
