The Company
SSP is a world-wide retail catering company with operations in 30 countries and employing over 35,000 people. We operate well known branded restaurants, bars, cafés, food courts and convenience stores in airports, train stations, motorway service stations, retail parks and other leisure locations across the globe. In the UK, we employ c 10,000 and have around 700 units. That's a lot of employees to support. Our HR Shared Service Centre (SSC) is located in Birmingham Great Park, where we have an HR advisory team, payroll team and HR and recruitment administration teams.

The Role
The main purpose of this role is to ensure all Payroll input has been actioned and completed effectively within the agreed timescales and deadlines. Working in conjunction with the Payroll Manager to manage the daily performance of the team and to complete all Payroll processing, including all reporting, 3rd party payments and pay overs which need to be up to date and paid over by the agreed deadlines. Daily tasks will include: Processing data in SAP relating to: new starter tax and NI details, maternity/paternity pay, company and statutory sick pay, bonus payments, holiday pay and higher grade duty payments, benefits and loans, inputting salaried timesheets, administering P45's & P46's, court orders and attachment of earnings, union and voluntary deductions, car allowance payments, pension administration, system reports and reconciliations, dealing with telephone and email queries from HR, management colleagues and employees, liaising with external parties such as HMRC, DWP and CSA, plus ad hoc duties to support the payroll manager.

The Details
To be successful in this role you will have;
* Ability to work well as part of a team whilst prioritising your workload to meet strict deadlines
* Strong organisation and administration skills with some relevant work experience
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail with excellent data entry skills
* Good computer literacy and especially MS Excel skills are essential
* Knowledge of statutory guidelines and procedures, PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP and preferably previous experience in a similar role
