Location: London
Length: Permanent
Rate: £42,000 to £50,000 per annum - (commensurate with experience)

Our client, a public sector organisation based in London is looking to appoint a Category Manager (generalist) to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Managing several categories for the organisation which include clinical/medical, estates and facilities, corporate services and IT
  • The development and implementation of the category strategy across the organisation spend in both a strategic and operational nature
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure value for money is achieved and provide technical expertise in advising, guiding and executing procurement processes, including both EU and non EU tenders
  • Supporting the development of procurement knowledge capability within the organisation
  • Deputise for the Head of Procurement in his/her absence
  • Lead key internal stakeholders to ensure collaborative delivery of business benefits from progressive procurement to supplier performance management activities

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Previous experience of working within or alongside a variety of categories in a procurement role and a technical understanding to be able to consult with technical experts and work with strategic suppliers
  • Strong communication skills and experience in building relationships at senior levels, as well as a good understanding of procurement best practice.
  • CIPS qualification
  • In-depth knowledge of category management techniques & processes
  • Demonstrable knowledge of EU rules and regulations, providing compliant procurement processes and procedures that work to the institutions best advantage
  • Use of e-sourcing and purchase-to-pay systems to enhance category strategy delivery
