The Landscape Institute (LI) is the chartered body for the landscape profession and provides a professional home for all landscape practitioners including landscape scientists, landscape planners, landscape architects, landscape managers and urban designers. It is an educational charity working to promote the art and science of landscape practice. The LI’s aim, through the work of its members, is to protect, conserve and enhance the natural and built environment for the public benefit.

We are inviting applications from suitably experienced individuals to join the Board of Trustees, which comprises a maximum of thirteen members. Nine members are drawn from the membership, by election or appointment, and we appoint four independent trustees, either externally or from within the membership, to add breadth of experience and skills to the Board. The current vacancy is for one of the four independent trustees, and we are seeking someone with business development and/or international business experience. We are also interested in those with a digital / IT background.

Other requirements are a commitment to the aims and objectives of the Landscape Institute; a good understanding of the duties of a trustee; strategic, visionary thinking and an ability to bring fresh ideas to discussion and challenge opinions respectfully. The role carries the legal responsibilities and liabilities which go with being a charity Trustee.

Our Board meets four times per year, usually in London, with further engagement by electronic means between meetings.

For more information go to the Landscape Institute website. If you would like an informal discussion about the role or the LI, please contact Emma Wood, Professional Standards and Governance Manager in the first instance.

The LI welcomes applications from everyone irrespective of gender and ethnic group however, in order to improve representation on the board we particularly encourage applications from women, members of ethnic minority groups, people with disabilities and people from the LGBT community. Appointment will be based on merit alone via the button below.
