Senior Public Affairs Officer £36,719 plus £3520 London Allowance (if applicable) London Full time Permanent Job ref: 18\015 We live in fascinating political times, but Citizens Advice continues to cut through and achieve change that helps people. We’re now looking for a public affairs specialist who understands how to influence decision-makers so we can continue to have a positive impact on society. Citizens Advice provides people with the advice they need, and influences policy-makers to fix the underlying cause of their problems. From 2,700 locations we help 2.7 million people a year, and we also have a duty to represent consumers. Our unique data means we know the issues that matter to people most. We use this insight to inform policy-makers, so that government and industry can take action to prevent these problems affecting other people in future. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in a busy, high-performing public affairs team. We work on a huge variety of areas that take us to almost every corner of Whitehall. At the moment we’re aiming to get a fairer deal for consumers in essential markets like energy and broadband, make sure the benefits system delivers for those who need it, and help people to stay in control of their finances by capping high-cost credit. The ideal candidate will understand the Government and opposition parties’ priorities, be able to provide tactical insight on how government and parliament operates, and be acutely aware of the opportunities and risks the current political climate presents us with. You should also be a highly skilled communicator, with the ability to build productive working relationships and write persuasively for a variety of audiences. Citizens Advice values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people, as they are currently underrepresented in our workforce.
