The main responsibility of the SEN Teaching Assistant is to always sustain and create a safe, positive learning environment for the pupils. You will be expected to prepare learning materials when needed and assist the class lead in creating a stimulating classroom. More specifically, the SEN Teaching Assistant will work with key pupils who differ in their need severity. You will be expected to take children out for 1:1 or small group sessions to teach them in a focused environment. It is important in this role that the SEN Teaching Assistant takes care of the physical and emotional well-being of the child.

For this role, you must be an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who has a track record of implementing successful behavioural and learning strategies. At the heart of the position, you must possess a passion for helping vulnerable individuals achieve their academic potential. The SEN Teaching Assistant will have excellent communication skills and any form of non-verbal communication such as Makaton will be highly advantageous. You will be experienced and able to handle challenging behaviour, whilst always maintaining a positive attitude in the classroom.
