Mechanical Design and Development Engineer - Bespoke Automation

£35 - 45k + Pension + Benefits

This is a key role for a rapidly expanding global supplier of cutting edge automation to join their design and development team, focused on embracing a number of core electro-mechanical projects. They have an abundance of key customers which are demanding state of the art remote-controlled automated products which are new to the market and push the technology beyond anything else the competition can offer. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a business which offers a platform for ground breaking design.

This role is a focal one within the group as its key objective is to deliver new automation products and solutions to various industries. The role will comprise of handling a number of projects from concept to completion, beginning with the product specification, investigating potential design and manufacturing solutions before prototyping and testing the final product. You must be able to understand and deliver to project timings and have skills in practical engineering. This is not just the design and development of equipment but also an understanding of how it is made and put together including associated electronic control systems. You must also have a commercial acumen to liaise with customers and get the costings of projects right.

The successful person will be a proven senior design engineer with a passion for creative bespoke equipment or electro-mechanical mechanism design and development projects. You should have a high attention to detail and a demand of only the best quality resulting in first class special purpose products. You will need experience in the design and development of bespoke machine or mechanism projects and ideally a mechanical degree. You should possess excellent hands on design skills, using Inventor or a similar 3D CAD package and be at home designing various components, mechanisms and sheet metal products. Some knowledge of electronic controls, CE standards and prototyping skills would also be beneficial qualities.
