Our client is one of the UK's leading engineering companies, specialising in the bus and lorry sector. There are excellent opportunities within the business.

General Description:
The Fitter works as part of a team within the Truck & Bus department and is responsible for fitting truck components, hydraulics and any other ancillary parts to commercial vehicles as required by the customer.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. To ensure the accurate assembly of hydraulics and products to customer build specifications and internal notifications.
2. To Read and accurately interpret CAD drawings and build specifications
3. To ensure that all jobs issued are completed within the given timescales
4. To accurately complete and return each job card issued in line with Type Approval regulations
5. To complete installations and repairs of equipment at the customer site where requested
6. To ensure all vehicles are put through and pass the quality control process before being signed off and passed to the customer

Key measures

1. All new equipment is produced to customer build specifications. Liaises with Foreman as appropriate.
2. CAD drawings and build specifications are read and interpreted accurately. Hydraulic kits, truck component parts and ancillary products are fitted in line with build / manufacturer specifications
3. All jobs issued are completed on time and to customer specifications. Timelines are reviewed and any adjustments required are agreed with the Foreman to ensure expectations are met. Type Approval and product quality is maintained at all times
4. Job cards are completed accurately, timely and include materials used and the time taken to complete. Any issues are captured on the card. Completed cards are returned to the Foreman in a timely manner. Type Approval standards are maintained
5. Installation and repair of equipment completed on customer site. All external site safety regulations are adhered to at all times. Company appropriately represented at all times

Experience Required
o Previous experience in MIG welding steel including ferrous metals
o Previous experience working with hydraulic systems
o Proven ability to work off of own initiative
o Excellent verbal communication skills
o Physically fit – role requires job holder to regularly lift, bend, stretch and handle difficult and heavy items
