Acorn Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established international company whose focus is on the design and manufacture of advanced satellites and systems for telecommunications, earth observation, and navigation and science programmes

We are currently seeking an AIT QA Engineer to be responsible for ensuring the following functions within AIT are managed according to quality requirements and procedures.

Internal Relationships

The AIT QA Engineers report directly to the AIT Quality Manager.
The AIT QA Engineer will work with AIT technicians, AIT engineering & workshop team leaders and managers advising on matters of quality assurance and control. The AIT QA Engineer must work with AIT managers for specific projects, and inform them of issues when they arise.

Job Specification

* Collate AIT NCR lists and status from the AIT QA teams at project level from AIT. Use Pandora, ensuring continuity of inputs for project review.
* Collate AIT build reconciliations and open points (e.g. open work orders), at project level
* Chair AIT gate reviews (MRR, IRR).
* Ensure open actions from KIPs and MIPs are managed and tracked during all AIT phases.
* Manage 2nd closures
* Carry out audits
* Deploy QUEST
* Chair post-test reviews for functional verification activities.
* Post delivery: Manage definition and closure of open items.

The QA engineer is fully empowered to manage all aspects of quality within the AIT boundary.

Experience Requirement

* A recognised engineering apprenticeship and/or equivalent academic qualification with at least 5 years AIT, Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience within the Aerospace industry.
* At least 2 years within AIT Quality Assurance Role or product assurance role,
* Good understand of product and quality assurance principles.
* A good understanding of manufacturing processes.
* The ability to communicate at all levels and across nationalities
* Analytical skills and methodical approach to problem resolution and investigation,
* Teamwork and leadership attributes with excellent written and oral communication and persuasion skills,

Essential Requirements

* Knowledge of Space Quality standards,
* Facilitation skills,
* Understand and embrace quality improvement initiatives,
* Reporting skills,
* User and promoter of quality tools and methods, particularly problem solving, risk management, statistical process control, metrics,
* Organised, practical and logical in work approach,
* Knowledge of Space Quality standards,
* Flexibility to travel within the UK and Europe when required,
* Willingness to work on shift, on-call or off-site for short periods when required.

Desirable Requirements

* Lean, continuous improvement qualifications, Green or Black belt would be desirable
* Preferably accredited course in quality assurance or related disciplines. (e.g . IQA / IET / IMechE)

Required Qualification Level

* Degree/HNC or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline.
