General Description:

The Sales Engineer works as part of the Tank sales team and is responsible for the overall sales function, which includes the line management and direction of the sales support administrator. The job holder will be required to take on other duties as directed by the Truck and Bus Division operations manager, including deputising as appropriate in their absence.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. To ensure that all initial sales enquiries are taken down and recorded appropriately including those of key account holders
2. To ensure that the Company’s recognised suppliers are always delivering best value and that new suppliers are sought where appropriate
3. To ensure that customer relationships are developed and maintained by the sales team, so that their expectations can be positively managed
4. To be responsible for identifying and monitoring market trends, so that recommendations can be made for new product developments
5. To ensure that all jobs secured are accurately recorded and priced, so that there is complete end to end transparency
6. To liaise with the appropriate Foremen to ensure the correct specifications and timely completion of customer orders and to manage customer expectations positively and appropriately throughout

Key measures

1. Telephones are answered professionally and in a timely manner. Sales enquiries forms are completed accurately and processed in line with expectations. Delegated tasks from the sales enquiry are completed to expected standard
2. Best price is reviewed and secured from current recognised suppliers. Regularly reviews the market to ensure best value is maintained and new suppliers are sought wherever appropriate
3. A customer database is established and maintained appropriately. Systems in place to measure customer satisfaction
4. Market trends are monitored on a regular basis. Developments in trends are identified and appropriately reported to the Director – Tank Division. Recommendations for product development are put forward as appropriate

Required experience and Knowledge

o Fluent in MS Office & Excel
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
o Previous experience in a sales environment
o Previous experience of managing key accounts
o Previous experience of working to sales targets
o Professionally presented
