The HMRC is recruiting for a Technical Community Manager to join the MDTP team (​Multi-channel​ ​Digital​ ​Tax​ ​Platform). The MDTDP is an award-winning (UK​ ​IT​ ​Industry​ ​Awards​ ​2015​ ​Digital​ ​Project​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Year)​ ​cloud infrastructure​ ​platform​ ​that​ ​hosts​ ​HMRC`s​ ​digital​ ​services.

The ​technical​ ​community​ ​manager​ ​will​ ​be​ ​responsible​ ​for​ ​creating​ ​a robust​ ​and​ ​active​ ​community​ ​of​ ​developers​ ​working​ ​on​ ​the​ ​MDTP. You​ ​will​ ​educate​ ​the​ ​70+​ ​teams​ ​of​ ​developers​ ​spread​ ​across​ ​the UK,​ ​helping​ ​them​ ​understand​ ​the​ ​platform,​ ​recommending​ ​best practice​ ​and​ ​designing​ ​user-centric​ ​documentation.​ This will initially be based near Waterloo station but move to Canary
Wharf in the spring.

You​r responsibilities will include the following:

- Facilitate​ ​and​ ​promote​ ​the​ ​idea​ ​of​ ​a​ ​‘contribution​ ​culture`​ ​amongst developer​ ​groups​ ​and​ ​technical​ ​experts​ ​in​ ​MDTP,​ ​identifying​ ​areas for​ ​providing​ ​new​ ​guidance

- Cultivate​ ​and​ ​evolve​ ​living​ ​documentation,​ ​staying​ ​on​ ​top​ ​of operational​ ​developments,​ ​and​ ​ensuring​ ​they​ ​are​ ​reflected​ ​in​ ​our body​ ​of​ ​guidance

- Assess​ ​the​ ​needs​ ​of​ ​our​ ​developer​ ​audience​ ​and​ ​experiment​ ​with the​ ​best​ ​ways​ ​to​ ​communicate,​ ​be​ ​it​ ​online​ ​seminars,​ ​written documentation​ ​or​ ​workshops​ ​or​ ​something​ ​else

- Collaborate​ ​with​ ​experts​ ​within​ ​and​ ​beyond​ ​HMRC​ ​to​ ​clarify technical​ ​issues

- Understand​ ​the​ ​technology,​ ​tools​ ​and​ ​processes​ ​requiring documentation

- Develop​ ​our​ ​onboarding​ ​strategy​ ​for​ ​new​ ​developers​ ​joining​ ​the platform

- Manage​ ​our​ ​technical​ ​wiki,​ ​indexing​ ​existing​ ​content,​ ​editing​ ​new content​ ​and​ ​writing​ ​blog​ ​posts

- Build​ ​trusted​ ​relationships​ ​with​ ​key​ ​developers​ ​working​ ​on​ ​the platform

- Keep​ ​up​ ​to​ ​date​ ​with​ ​relevant​ ​trends,​ ​both​ ​within​ ​and​ ​beyond government

You will need to show evidence of the some of the following experience:

- Creating content with a technical focus e.g. blogs, wiki articles, information for new recruits

- Using an online​ ​authoring​ ​tool​ ​or​ ​wiki,​ ​ideally Confluence.

- Basic​ ​diagram​ ​illustration​ ​skills

- Experience​ ​of​ ​working​ ​in​ ​a​ ​technical​ ​environment,​ ideally with some understanding of software development and related concepts

- Experience​ ​organising​ ​events​ ​and​ ​meetups


- Civil Service Pension: at this level, you would contribute 7.35%, and the HMRC would top that up with 22.1% of your salary (net figure of 14.75%)

- 22 days holiday, increasing to 25 days after 1 year
