Our client, an international MANUFACTURING business, is now looking to recruit a Supplier Development Engineer to join on a permanent basis.

THIS ROLE WILL BE BASED IN THE POOLE AREA WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL TRAVEL AS REQUIRED.

Brief of the role:
1. Develop supply base, driving improvements in supplier quality, delivery, cost and systems.
2. Ensure suppliers meet the business needs in terms of responsible business, health and safety.
3. Responsible for Supplier Corrective Action management and driving supplier to mitigate root cause of quality issues.
4. Support in house manufacturing with audits.
5. Support the introduction of new and derivative products through the Product Approval Process by:
− Providing guidance to the supplier, as needed.
− Coordinating timely resolution of quality issues, if/as they develop.
− Assuring required information is received from the supplier and communicated internally as appropriate.
6. Champion or support supplier change requests.
7. Conduct supplier quality system assessment audits as required.
8. Drive improvements utilising Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, whilst driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver value.
9. Track supplier performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings to facilitate and develop the supply bases ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations.
10. Populate monthly supplier scorecards and communicate internally supplier performance.
11. Solicit cost savings and/or manufacturability suggestions from the supply base and drive VAVE. Understanding and clearly communicating technical detail.
12. Accountable for the creation and maintenance of supplier quality training materials utilised for the development of IMI’s strategic suppliers. Maintain Supplier Training Matrix and supplier recognition process.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Qualification in Quality or Supply Chain Management.
2. Experience in Continuous Improvement with proven record of developing suppliers to World Class level.
3. Relevant experience in a similar role with a Manufacturing/Engineering environment.
4. Familiarity with TS-16949, ISO-9001:2000, and ISO-14000 quality system standards or other globally recognised quality standards and systems applicable to business requirements.
5. Experience managing projects and cross functional teams.
6. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
7. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and manufacturing personnel.
8. Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
9. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, pareto and statistics.
10. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish trends, and draw valid conclusions.
11. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
12. Planning and prioritising activities.
13. Strong interpersonal skills
