THE COMPANY

Westray Recruitment Consultants is looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer (Electrical Bias) to commence work covering the UK & Ireland inspecting/testing, servicing and commissioning dust & gas spark detection systems. The field based role will see the Service Engineer being responsible for around 100 clients covering various sectors and industries. The fire protection systems often reside within hazardous and potentially dangerous environments. The role will be based within the North East of England but will incorporate heavy travel commitments centring on a Monday to Friday basis with occasional weekend working.

THE ROLE

- Inspecting, testing, servicing and commissioning company equipment, inlcuding dust and gas spark detection systems
- Ensuring pumps and compressed air systems are fit for purpose
- Working to produce and document company reports
- Inspecting & testing water units, control panels, components, detectors and extinguishers
- Completing administrative tasks including risk assessments, work reports and job cards
- Replacing parts and refurbishing parts
- Inspecting downloads from panels
- Updating detection systems and setting sequences for spark prevention and isolation
- Building panels
- Working with UV & IR sensors
- Working with low voltages
- Delivering both electrical and mechanical work
- Delivering tray and pipework
- Ensuring compliance with fire authorities, the HSE and Environment agencies

THE EXPERIENCE

- CSCS card holder and also highly beneficial to hold IPAF and Cherry Picker Licenses (Site Safety Passport would be advantageous)
- Must have an electrical qualification above a City & Guilds Level 2 in a recognised discipline
- Displaying sound electrical and mechanical knowledge
- Must be prepared to work away from home on a weekly basis
- High computer literacy - using Excel, Word and Emails
- Strong personality and high levels of customer service
- Must be able to work at height
- Adaptable to work within a wide variety of environments
- Strong confidence to manage customer expectations

THE CONTRACT

This is a permanent role and the basic hours for this role centres on a 40 hour week working Monday to Friday. There will also be weekend work and overtime is paid at a standard time during the week but it is enhanced to time & ¼ at the weekend. This role will involve heavy travel dependency and regular overnight stays, usually but limited to week days. Geographically the role will travel the UK and Ireland.

The organisation is committed to heavy training and development of all staff members. This role includes a one week course to Germany to learn the company equipment. Following this a minimum 3 month buddy system will be put in place

THE SALARY

The position pays circa £27k, without overtime, including Mobile phone and tablet, 25 days holiday plus statutory, 3% matched pension contribution and company car which is fully covered - including personal mileage for personal use.
