Our Client is one of the UK's leading engineering businesses, specialising in the lorry and bus sector. There will be excellent opportunities for the right candidate.

General Description:

The Dispatch Operative works as part of a team within the wider Truck & Bus function and has responsibility to ensure that all products and fuel tanks are dimensionally checked and pressure tested in line with the appropriate Type Approval Regulations and internal quality standards. The job holder is
also required to pick correct component parts and package securely and appropriately for shipment to the customer.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. To ensure the correct and timely dispatch of relevant components and parts
2. To ensure that all components and parts are packaged appropriately, so that the relevant products reach the end user in a fit for purpose and undamaged condition
3. To ensure that customer orders are manufactured where required, picked and processed correctly and accurately
4. To ensure that all tanks are tested in line with the appropriate Vehicle Type Approval Regulations and internal quality standards
5. To ensure that the dimensions and fitting positions for all products are quality checked, so that they conform to the relevant CAD drawing / customer specifications

Key measures
1. Products are dispatched accurately and in a timely manner. Any scratches or minor defects are
removed before product is dispatched (received by internal customer). Quality issues reported
appropriately. Liaises with Foreman as required
2. All products are securely and appropriately packaged as per Company expectations and
guidelines. Products arrive with end user in a pristine condition. Absence of reports of damaged
items received by customers
3. Orders are processed in line with expectations. Liaises with the Stores Department as
appropriate. Relevant items are manufactured in readiness for dispatch as required. Dispatch
notes are matched to correct addresses. Vehicles are loaded and unloaded as appropriate and
in line with all relevant health & safety guidance.
4. All tanks are thoroughly tested before being dispatched. Vehicle Type Approval Regulations
CD003 & CD004 are followed for the pressure test and contamination tests. Tanks checked
against the Company’s internal quality standards. Defects are appropriately logged and rectified
wherever possible. Those that cannot be rectified are passed to the appropriate department for
correction. Liaises with Foreman as required
5. All products are checked against relevant CAD drawing / customer specification.

Experience, knowledge & skills

Previous experience working in an engineering environment
Proven ability to work off of own initiative
Excellent verbal communication skills
