COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Director to work with an established sector leader, providing bespoke engineering solutions Nationally.

Our client is well established and growing business, and they’re seeking to appoint a highly driven and motivated individual to join a forward thinking and evolving Management Team. Your challenge will be to manage the Engineering team(s) to deliver new product development and an ambitious customer focussed product support initiative as a core part of their businesses growth.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directing future strategy of as a member of the Management Team
• Integrating the engineering teams
• Leading engineering teams (located in South Tyneside, North Tyneside and Bucks. (circa 20 people in total)
• Developing a range of new products
• Ensuring the new product roadmap is delivered on time and on cost
• Questioning the status quo to bring in disruptive ideas on technologies
• Challenging the way we currently develop products, encouraging experimentation, MVP and rapid prototyping as ways to speed up time to market
• Embedding innovative thinking throughout the team
• Working with sales to create innovative and highly profitable product development
• Developing relationships with outsourced partners, suppliers, and clients to deliver best in class solutions for our customers
• Managing potential for 1st line internal IT support & liaison with outsourced IT support company

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
• Preferably qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline (preferably within electronic)
• Highly capable with deep understanding of electronic engineering (knowledge of optical technologies is an advantage)
• Pro-active and results driven, you have an outstanding track record of delivering results
• Within the design team of a manufacturer (pref)
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally
• Demonstrable experience of leading, coached and developing cross functional (Electronics, Embedded firmware, Software and Mechanical) Engineering teams
• Professional curiosity and a desire to disrupt the status quo with innovative thinking
• Passionate about new technologies
• Able to high standards for yourself and others in the pursuit of excellence
• Projection of gravitas and professional integrity
• Inspire with your passion and values
• Ability to turn complex problems into simple issues
• Willing to travel (mostly UK)
