An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join our Rail Finance team based in Birmingham. Our Rail Division provide expert design and consultancy services to support a range of key projects and joint venture partnerships. As part of the Rail Finance team you will play a key role providing transactional and management account support to ensure successful preparation of monthly management accounts and assisting with the budgeting and forecasting process.

This position is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business, where you will gain experience and exposure to a broad range of financial tasks, together with support towards your Finance qualification.

What will this role involve?
• Manipulating, analysing and interpreting data in Excel to aid in decision making
• Analysis of data and trends to produce valuable management information
• Production of monthly management accounts and preparation of periodic budgets and forecasts
• Completion of audit packs to assist in interim / annual audit process
• Production and reporting of cash flow forecasts
• Reporting and explanation of variances to profit centre managers
• Bringing new ideas into the area to enhance change and automate processes

What are we looking for?
• Currently studying for Finance/Accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
• Ability to achieve tight deadlines with high degree of quality and understanding
• Strong Excel skills (Intermediate level)
• Exposure to finance systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar preferred
• Basic knowledge of accounting practices, statutory regulations and reporting requirements and experience of forecasting
• Profit centre reporting and variance analysis experience preferred but not essential
• Highly developed communication skills at all levels
• Able to work on own initiative
• Deadline driven
• Adaptable with the ability to work in a fast paced changing environment
