Our client has gained the reputation for producing some of the world's most innovative and inspiring architectural hardware; design led they currently export to the USA, Europe, Australia and the Far East. We are looking for a positive and intelligent candidate to join their team as their ‘Purchasing Assistant’. You will be working in support of the ‘Production & Procurement Manager’ and over time you will take on more of the Buying duties and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have worked within a manufacturing company ideally in a production support / supply chain / purchasing or similar team and be motivated and keen to learn. We are looking for a candidate who can take ownership of their role; carry out the day to day buying function using the ERP system and being pro-active and efficient whilst managing supplier relationships in a positive way. About the Job

The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for the day to day buying duties and will be required to ensure relationships with their suppliers are professionally managed and stock is available when required for the production team. This is a busy and hands on role that requires a person with excellent attention to details; a pro-active and organised manner and preferably experience in purchasing within a manufacturing company. You will need to be flexible to change but also willing to suggest new ideas where necessary. The business is small but growing so demands can change; for example, the company purchase a large number of parts annually from a wide range of suppliers, varying from small niche producers to large organisations. Day to day duties will include:

• Carry out the day out day purchasing function for the business
• Provide cost reporting to Purchasing Manager
• To ensure that the ERP system is accurately kept up to date with information.
• To develop the relationship with all suppliers, ensuring high levels of service to and from manufacturers, to assist the Company in becoming their supplier’s customer of choice.
• Prepare reports on components and stock management.
• Supplier performances reports
• Analysing stock movements, EBQ and safety stock.

The Right Person…

• Experienced purchasing assistant preferred or experience within supply chain / buying / production planning / production support
• Must have experience within a manufacturing / engineering based company.
• CIPS Qualification useful but not essential.
• Strong communication skills; good relationship management and negotiation skills
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently with excellent attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and proactive; keen to take ownership of their role.
• Highly organized, with good time management skills that can prioritize tasks to meet changing deadlines.
• Experience in working with an ERP system and good all round IT skills


• Excellent salary c£18k to £22k dependant on experience; generous performance based bonus; pension scheme; death in service benefit after 6 months.
• Full time position; 28 days holiday;
