Engineering Manager (Engines)

Engineering Manager (Engines) Role:

'Design Authority' for a range of engines produced in the UK & India.

Sign off Authority for:
Change requests - parts, systems, calibrations.
New applications with associated changes.

Ensure that the Top 10 Field product concerns are addressed.

Ensure that the Product Range maintains legislative compliance.

Apply best practise, including: FMEA, DVP&SOR, DFM, DFA, 8D.

Give direction on design, analysis, prototypes, & validation testing and ensure reports are submitted to the correct standard.

Manufacturing / Production support - including approval of supplier and in-house concessions.

Ensure Technical Integrity of Purchased Engines.

Ensure that technical decisions are made at the right time and consider integrity, timing & cost.

Daily direction to the team as required and other management duties as required.


Engineering Degree.

Diesel Engine sector knowledge (Automotive or Industrial).

Knowledge of base engine, and emissions control systems (inc electronics and aftertreatment).

Understanding of engine development, test methodologies and equipment.

Engine Product Life Cycle experience from concept, CAE through to launch.

Knowledge of regulations and engine attributes (performance, efficiency, NVH etc.).

Experience of NPI and APQP methodologies.

Demonstrate technical competence & integrity.

Demonstrate record of managing an Engineering team.

Self-Starter with strong communication skills.

Ability to travel if required.
