An experienced primary teacher is required for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Brent to start in ASAP and continue for the full academic year covering maternity leave. The right candidate must be able to deliver throughout the primary curriculum and be able to handle very challenging SEMH pupils. Class sizes are small (4-6 in each class) and you will always have 2 support staff members with you to assist.

The role whilst being extremely rewarding is equally extremely challenging. You will work with some of the most disadvantaged pupils who have been expelled from mainstream education with the goal of getting these pupils back into a mainstream environment.

This PRU is an all through PRU so will have both Primary and Secondary pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school and as such many of the pupils have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH). Your role will be working solely with the primary department and this area of the school is separate from the secondary site.

This school offers academic and vocational avenues to their students with the aim of integration, and as such, an experienced teacher who has worked in a similar setting would be extremely useful. As part of this role you would also be expected to liaise closely with parents and guardians.

This role requires a firm but fair role model to appropriately deal with the challenging behaviour you will encounter daily, be it in a 1:1 or group setting.
