Area Manager (Learning Disabilities / Mental Health)

Salary: circa £40,506 per annum

About the Role:

The Area Manager will manage and co-ordinate the assessment of customer needs and will provide a preliminary written service response and a co-produced recovery framework (My Guide, including personal budget plans and risk appraisals) for every customer in our service. You will provide a framework for a range of self-managed and staff support techniques to promote mental wellbeing (preventing/reducing hospital admissions, antisocial behaviour, contact with the criminal justice system and social exclusion).

Additionally, you will provide a supportive framework where customers become progressively more in control of their lives and learn about themselves and manage their illness. You will also ensure best practice in the operational delivery of services, monitoring managers and service delivery to ensure quality, compliance and safe practice.

About You:

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Health or Social Care Qualification (i.e. Registered Mental Nurse, Registered Learning Disability Nurse / Certificate in Social Work) and significant, successful management experience including ability to deliver agreed outcomes and objectives. You will also have experience of delivering good personnel practice including performance management, positive health promotion and sickness monitoring.

Additionally, you will have the demonstrable ability to lead and motivate a large staff team, provide effective supervision, ensure effective communication between staff members and to promote a professional, high quality service in line with the aims and objectives of LCH. You will also have experience of ensuring effective and assertive interventions with customers to support them to achieve as much independence as possible.

You will also have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of customers with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities and experience of planning strategies to meet them. Knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding of vulnerable adults is essential as is experience of, and/or ability to manage and address, high risk behaviours. You will also have the ability to manage a devolved budget and to plan and prioritise own workload on a day-to-day basis.
