To play a key role in the continued development of ASD provision working closely with the ARP team
• To work with schools, parents, key agencies and the young people with autism , to ensure effective and successful inclusion of pupils attending mainstream school
• To advise on learning styles and appropriate teaching approaches behaviour management, classroom strategies, resources and whole school policies.
• To support the ARP team and line manage the Teaching Assistants, who work with pupils with ASD, as required.
• To initiate and model autism specific teaching strategies for Teachers/Teaching Assistants, relating to individual pupils within the classroom and whole school. Main Activities:
• To enable access to learning and social opportunities for pupils with ASD through the delivery of teaching, support, families and the young person with ASD.
• To write Support Plans, setting and monitoring targets and outcomes, as required, and attending interim or annual reviews.
• To write reports as appropriate including reports for Statutory Assessment/Reviews.
• To work within a multi-agency framework including partnership with the schools and parents.
• To promote inclusion and inclusive practice through the delivery of INSET and development
of appropriate school responses.
• To work with Key partners in the Speech and Language Service, Educational Psychology
Service, CAMHS and other Services.
• To develop and maintain records of teaching, assessment, advice, meetings, planning and pupil progress.
• To evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of intervention and support.
• To keep up-to-date with current research on Autism.
• To support the Head of treetops in the continued development of Treetops
