Your new role - This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). In addition to being considered as the Department's financial accounting 'Centre of Excellence', the team leads in the production of the consolidated accounts for the DCMS Group. This is an exciting role as DCMS is undergoing a period of change, its Core Finance team (of which FACT is an integral part), is relatively small and therefore provides opportunities not always found in larger departments. Finance is high on the agenda and the recent successful move to a new shared service provider, has resulted in the opportunity for development of the core underpinning processes and procedures, opportunities for the team and individuals to develop new skills, the chance to be a key player in a number of important changes (including the move to P2P), to drive through the implementation and the opportunity to influence the direction and shape of the Department for the future. This role supports the Head of Financial Accounting & Control providing technical advice and constructive challenge to the wider team and across finance, has direct line management responsibilities for three accountants.
What you'll need to succeed - you will be a qualified accountant with at least 3 years' experience in a busy finance team. You will have a strong understanding of complex accounting systems and have experience in the development and delivery of process improvements. This role will suit someone with the ability to prioritise and influence people. Strong excel and systems skills are essential.
