About the Role: As a Senior Data Manager you will be responsible for leading, managing,and delivering all aspects of Data Management, assurance and governanceof all products and services derived from DWP and cross-government dataassets. You will own the overall Data Management process and will set thestrategies for products and the wider community. You are a skilled practitioner and role model in data managementprinciples. You will be responsible for ensuring best practices areadhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to effectivelydeliver data products. General responsibilities: Lead multiple Data Processing teams providing technical leadershipand guidance. Including coaching and mentoring year team and theirprofessional development. Contribute and set strategic direction for Data Processing teams andwider Data Engineering community Lead the sharing of knowledge and good practice with the wider dataengineering community Design and lead the strategies for building shared metadata librariesand services for products Own the development of medium-long term strategies for dataarchiving, metadata management and data quality. Leading the set-up of a metadata management function to support theself-service strategy Essential skills: Knowledge of industry best practices for database & datawarehouse live service operations and the ability to demonstrate serviceand incident management skills (ITIL Version 3) Understanding of the principles and importance of operationalreadiness assessments for transitioning services from development intoregular production Ability to manage relationships with a diverse customer base tooptimise service usage and minimise impacts of incidents Proven experience of working in a data development or productionenvironment. Ability to manage delivery tasks for a wide variety of datasimultaneously to ensure delivery of appropriate products and servicesin an accurate, complete, and timely fashion. Awareness of appropriate development language.
