Marketing Communications Lead
The role As Marketing Communications Lead for Healthwatch Essex (HWE), it is your responsibility to ensure that HWE communicates its activities in a way that is engaging and effective. You will develop, oversee and deliver a communications strategy and operational plan that covers the full spectrum of communications activities and disciplines, including production of written materials and outputs, social and digital media (including the website), branding and style, advertising, marketing, media and press relations. Your role is to ensure that HWE communications are always pro-active, high quality, effective, and in keeping with the overall aims and objectives of the organisation. This role reports to the CEO and you will have line management responsibility of the Marketing and Insight Officer. Key accountabilities To develop and maintain an overall communications strategy for HWE, including delivery of an annual operational plan and budget To build upon our brand identity, reinforce key messages, increase HWE’s brand awareness and promote its work, both internally and externally The production of all HWE marketing materials and PR, ensuring brand optimisation and consistency To develop and produce specific written materials and outputs, including key publications such as the HWE Annual Report, as well as regular communications bulletins for HWE members and stakeholders. To manage all aspects of media relations, including production of press releases and media responses. This will entail developing pro-active relationships with media organisations and professionals, and acting as a first point of contact for media enquiries received by HWE. To develop and maintain networks with external communications professionals (such as from the NHS, social care and voluntary and community organisations), ensuring that HWE is represented appropriately in meetings and forums, and ensuring that HWE is able to contribute to system-wide projects where appropriate and where it advances HWE’s aims and objectives. To ensure that all HWE intellectual property responsibilities and rights are safeguarded effectively, efficiently and professionally To work with the HWE staff team and Trustees to develop clear and effective communications plans for individual projects and work streams. To be HWE’s ambassador and spokesperson whenever required, developing and monitoring communication channels across HWE and ensuring productive communications with key Stakeholders To produce management information and reports such as marketing statistics and media coverage. To work effectively with the management team to ensure HWE’s reputation is safeguarded, managed and enhanced To focus on the continuous improvement of marketing and communications, being responsible for the employment and direction of any external agencies and/or consultancies used To be the primary content editor for HWE’s social media and website To exploit social media channels to develop the brand and relationships with stakeholders To keep up-to-date with legislation, data protection, ethics and policy around media and related aspects, ensuring that HWE communications activities are always high quality and reflect best practice. Working to and managing budget with support from the CEO To lead and develop the Marketing and Insight Officer and work collaboratively and productively with other team members.
