Development Officer (Science & Engineering)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Development team at The University of Manchester, playing a key role in increasing the level of philanthropic income in areas of pioneering science and engineering. The University of Manchester is Britain's largest single-site university with a proud history of scientific discoveries that have shaped the world. The University has a long and impressive association with scientific achievement – it is where Ernest Rutherford first split the atom, where Alan Turing undertook groundbreaking work on artificial intelligence, and where graphene was first isolated. It is an exciting time for science and discovery and the University is actively engaged in world leading areas of research and discovery that may result in significant advances benefiting society. Philanthropy has been an important part of our history in scientific and engineering and will continue to be central to our future success. As a Development Officer, you will be responsible for building relationships with a portfolio of potential donors interested in making a difference through support for science and engineering. You will be a key relationship manager mainly with alumni and private individual donors in order to support both Faculty of Science and Engineering and wider University philanthropic priorities. You must be a highly organised, pro-active individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a proven track record of managing relationships with individuals at an executive level. Results driven, you will significantly grow the number and level of philanthropic donations in accordance with Faculty and University objectives. You will also be deeply committed to the role that private philanthropy can play in supporting research and education for the benefit of society.
