Conventional (Non-CNC) Machinist
An opportunity has arisen for a Manual/Conventional (NON-CNC) Turning, Milling and Drilling Machinist to join our team in Flint. If you are a resourceful mechanical engineering machinist who thrives on a varied workload, are keen to develop your skills and are fully trained and experienced on turning and milling, please apply, we’d like to hear from you. There are opportunities for development in this role with in-house training available to learn new skills. Responsibilities • To work as part of our dynamic workshop team • To be flexible to help in other areas besides machining if required • To work with the team of engineers to understand project needs for the components being machined to ensure appropriate components are manufactured • To repair parts using manual (non-CNC) lathes, drilling and milling machines • To translate CAD drawings and manufacturing instructions from basic to technical products Skills / Qualifications Essential: • Engineering qualification with practical experience • Be conversant with all types of work including screw cutting on conventional lathes and milling machines • Be able to work to engineering drawings and tolerances • Be able to come up with best practice solutions for the machining of components • Be flexible to work outside of the machine shop, assisting in assembly/fitting/maintenance duties and assisting in the fabrication shop • To work under their own initiative • Be flexible to occasionally work late at short notice and work planned overtime during the week and at weekend Desirable: • Have served a full engineering apprenticeship with an approved body • Experience in non-CNC manual/conventional machining • A current forklift truck licence • Any other standard training that is in date such as use of overhead cranes, working at height, abrasive wheels, scaffold erection would also be an advantage To be considered for this excellent opportunity, please apply today.
