About the Programme Manager, ELT role We are looking for a qualified (MSP, APMP or PRINCE 2) Programme Manager to work within our English Language Teaching (ELT) Programmes and Processes team. The role of Programme Manager manages one or more of our publishing programmes through all its phases from approval to programme closure. This important role ensures publishing programmes are delivered to agreed schedules, budgets and scope. You will provide strong leadership to large cross-functional teams and help to improve the existing programme management methodologies and governance structures for ELT. This is an exciting time to work in ELT publishing at the Press as we develop and build the next generation of print and digital products and services ensuring our customers’ needs are at the heart of our high quality and innovative publishing. The role will require you to take responsibility for the development of full programme plans and associated programme documents to agreed guidelines, working with stakeholders from different functional groups. You will report on programme status to stakeholders, identifying and resolving issues and risks, and ensuring publishing programmes follow best practice and established processes. You will work closely with Programme executives and other senior management to ensure outcomes are aligned with business needs. Although there are no direct reports the role will involve matrix-management responsibility of large cross-functional programme teams. What do we look for in a Programme Manager, ELT? This role requires a strong understanding of project and programme management principles. Relevant Programme and/or Project Management experience is essential. You will thrive working with multiple teams, have excellent team and people skills with proven experience in leading, motivating and developing teams. You will also need a sound working knowledge of digital and print publishing production processes and experience of both budgeting and managing risks and change within projects/programmes. To succeed in this role you will have excellent communication skills, the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders and provide strong leadership to your programme team. You will have an ability to focus on the bigger picture and to work effectively with colleagues at all levels. You will be innovative and have a positive attitude to change, be responsive to customer needs and be empowered to take risks, acting with speed in the decision making process. A project or programme management qualification, e.g. MSP,APMP or PRINCE2 is a requirement for this role.
