Learning Support Assistant Salary: £8395.57 pa (Based on FTE £16,700 pa) Contract: 19.5 hours per week, with an additional 7 temporary hours until end of academic year, 32 weeks per year. Start date: As soon as possible For the current academic year this role is for 26.5 hours per week. We are truly an employer of choice, and this remains one of our top priorities. Learning Support Assistant Major tasks: 1. To support identified named students in a class environment using a range of learning support strategies, together with own knowledge of each learner's needs and preferences, to select and adapt tasks, resources and learning activities so as to engage and motivate learners. 2. Communicate effectively with learners in order to enable them to understand and participate in learning activities. 3. Use appropriate support strategies for working with groups and/or with individual learners to maximise learning opportunities. 4. Support the development of learners' language, literacy and numeracy skills. 5. Support learners to make best use of provision by encouraging them to meet course and/or organisational requirements in terms of, for example, punctuality, attendance and behaviour. 6. Support learners in managing change and transition, for example at the start and end of a programme of learning. 7. To maintain records and necessary paperwork relevant to the position. It is essential that you have a minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English. A learning support qualification at level 2 would be beneficial. It is essential that you have a Level 2 ICT qualification. If this is not held, successful candidates will be required to undertake a relevant Microsoft qualification within first 12 months of employment. If your qualification is more than 10 years old, we will require you to undertake a relevant refresher qualification. For more information, please refer to the job description.
