IT Support Engineer – 2nd/3rd Line

IT Support Engineer required by a leading service industry organisation in central Colchester. My client are currently going through a large scale consolidation programme that will see a disparate infrastructure spread across multiple locations adopted as part of recent acquisitions into a consolidated platform. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the new infrastructure implementation, you will be working closely with the Head of Technology to ensure the solution is fit for purpose, robust and geared towards a high traffic environment with 100% up time.

The remit for this role will see you working alongside the CTO and the wider team to facilitate the migration from their legacy platform to a new solution. Also you will be responsible for overseeing and coaching a team of 1st line engineers while remaining hands on ensuring 2nd line BAU tasks are managed alongside the wider change programme. This role also has a possibility of working closely with the CTO on a new strategic roadmap, which we rarely see at this level.

The technology stack is an evolving project as you will be joining at the early stages of the migration but your skills should cover a wide range of Wintel led technologies to include, Virtualisation, Server 2008 – 2012, Storage (Open-E, iSCSI), Networking (Cisco Switches, Routers, Telephony, Wi-Fi). Cyber security, BYOD (iOS, Android), Cloud led technologies (Office 365). Broader systems management, deployment, patching, Desktop/Laptop maintenance and configuration.

This role is well placed for a 2nd line engineer keen to gain some supervision exposure and wanting to get involved with a new project that will see you carrying out more than care taking an existing infrastructure.
