Position: Assistant Accountant Location: Leicester Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Hours: 37 hours per Week Salary: £24,813 - £26,535 per annum Closing date is: 23:55 on 30th January 2018. About the role: As the Assistant Accountant you will support the Head of Finance in the provision of pro-active accountancy and budgetary service for the Force. Responsibilities: - Co-ordinate and assist in the preparation of the annual revenue budget - Reflect permanent in year changes in the revenue budget in the model - Prepare and input budget profiles for corporate budgets - Administer the Operational Contingency Fund, Inflation Contingency and Growth - Run monthly budget reports from Agresso - Assist with the preparation, on a monthly basis the financial monitoring information required for budget monitoring purposes - Monitor specific corporate budgets / spending on a monthly basis investigating and communicating significant issues - Assist in the maintenance of the ‘Chart of Accounts’ to ensure that financial information is produced in a format / structure to support the Financial Management Team - Contribute to the development of Financial services by continually reviewing business processes to provide cost effective and high-quality services to both internal and external customers - Provide training to new users on the system, keep the training manuals up to date and available on the finance website - Manage and monitor expenditure on these schemes producing budgetary information for budget holders and sponsoring departments i.e. Home Office - Assist in projects requiring a financial input including attendance at meetings as the finance lead - Policy ensuring that all transactions / disclosures are in accordance with the legislation / policy About you: - Educated to "A" level standard and to hold GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and maths - Qualified to AAT level 4 or to study for this qualification within 2 years of appointment to post - Experience of working within a large complex financial environment; with some specific knowledge and experience of fulfilling a systems administrator role - Demonstrate extensive knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Agresso or other Financial Information systems and understanding of computerised accounting systems - Are able to lift, move and carry boxes of filing within the office.
