Autism Care Worker
Could you help build a future for young people with autism, is it your desire to make a difference? This role is to join a dynamic team within a private Autistic school at one of the residential houses, each of which is home to between 4 and 7 young people with autism from the ages of 5 - 25. As an Autism Practitioner, there’s no such a thing as a typical day – every day is interesting and varied. You will support students with their daily routine in the residential homes, at school and out in the community you will be providing support that makes a real difference to our young people’s lives. Whatever your day includes, you’ll need to be patient, caring and a great communicator. You’ll also need to work well as part of a team and be happy speaking to other healthcare professionals and parents of the person you’re supporting. If you are able to commit to covering between 2 to 5 shifts per week we would love to hear from you. The early shift starts at 7.00am and finishes at 3.45pm and the late shift starts at 3.15pm and finishes 10.00pm covering weekdays and weekends over 52 weeks. The thorough training and induction programme will ensure you have the support, skills and tools you need to deliver quality care for each young person. The school will even support you to complete your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if you are not yet qualified a statutory requirement for a career in childcare. Many of the staff members become experts in supporting those with autism and are able to progress to more senior roles. The school operate a rota based on a rolling pattern of early and late shifts throughout 52 weeks of the year, including weekends and public holidays.
