Applications Solutions Architect £50,000 - £60,000 + up to 15% Bonus + Flexitime + Free Parking + Benefits Bradford The role is responsible for developing solution designs for business systems, providing architectural direction to development teams, and implementing technical strategy. Working collaboratively with developers, project managers, infrastructure providers, business analysts, enterprise architects and subject matter experts. The role provides guidance and context to IT related change initiatives, and provides coaching and mentoring to key IT technical staff. The role will be the first point of contact for developers seeking technical or architectural guidance during development projects. The role will participate in defining technical strategies, and then ensuring their successful implementation. Key Accountabilities:- Developing Solution Designs Own the 'big-picture' - full end-to-end solution designs encompassing functional and non-functional requirements, integration patterns and infrastructure. Facilitate development of IT solutions that combine knowledge of particular business processes and issues, technological options, and good IT practices. Support delivery of technical solutions. Develop solution designs that are consistent with enterprise architecture strategies. Ensure solution designs are approved through the Architecture Review Board governance model. Architectural Direction Work as a key member of the IT team to contribute to a positive a team environment, and enable team to develop effective stakeholder engagement. Input to enterprise architecture strategies, followed by technical implementation of those strategies. Embed architectural principles and thinking within development teams. Define development and build processes. Manage technical risk. Implement Technical Strategy Manage the level of technical debt to support long-term, sustainable development. Meet non-functional requirements that are consistent with the Enterprise Architectural Principles and Target Model. Enable incremental and iterative development. Technical (platform) evaluation and selection. Additional activities: Support Enterprise Architecture and IT Business Systems with other tasks as required. Management activities: No line management responsibilities. Skills/Experience & Competencies: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in information systems or related discipline; or a minimum of 5 years' experience working in senior roles within a financial services IT environment. TOGAF foundation / certified is desirable. Required Experience: Significant experience in financial services IT or working with complex IT systems A minimum of two years as an architect, or in a role that requires significant IT architecture interaction with previous experience of producing Solution Definitions, High Level and Low level Designs. Ability and experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders and experience of establishing and maintain a high level of stakeholder trust and confidence. Ability to communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to non-technical audiences, through presentations and written reports. Act as a technical authority to the business and development teams providing technical leadership and governance on change projects Knowledge of design patterns and anti-patterns. Knowledge of eCommerce architecture and strategies. Experience within the financial services industry, with knowledge of the mortgage sector a particular benefit. Additionally, knowledge of outsourcing is desirable. Technical experience of products such as; Microsoft Stack, SQL, multichannel, eCommerce applications, Microservices, .Net, C#, Citrix,
